Sri Sathya Sai Visits Eluru and Guntur - December 1961

Sri Sathya Sai consecrating the idol of Shirdi Sai Baba
Saturday, December 02, 1961 to
Friday, December 15, 1961

Swami installed the marble idol of Shirdi Sai at Repalle, Guntur District on December 2nd, 1961. Swami created a golden image of Shirdi Sai and placed it underneath the marble image, ostensibly to infuse everlasting Divinity and Chaitanya to that idol carved by men. Swami told the devotees at Repalle that Sai dwells not only in the stony structure but also in human hearts purified by Sadhana (spiritual practice). Swami moved from Repalle to Chebrole and then to Eluru.

On 6th December, 1961, Swami installed the marble images of Krishna and Radha at Geeta Bhavanam, Eluru. Baba created Navaratnas (nine precious gems) and Ashtabandhanachakras (auspicious mystical formula) in gold for the installation. The life size idols shone with a unique splendour after Swami touched them. Swami addressed a public meeting and spoke on the Bhagavad Gita in the evening. He explained the inner significance of the Radha-Krishna symbolism. Swami returned to Prashanti Nilayam on 15th December, 1961.

  2. I was eleven years old and do remember to have Swami's darshan first time, at Eluru which is my native
place. I was so lucky to have his Darshan and sure that Baba had blessed me so that I am continued to have many more DARSHANS, BLESSINGS And SO ON AND SO.

    Sambasivarao Janyavula.
