“Swami, Please come for the MBA Day Programme…”

Thursday, August 17, 2000

During evening Darshan, Swami looked at the M.B.A. Anniversary day card. Then after the interview…

Student    :    Swami, You should come for the M.B.A. day.

Swami    :    Vice-Chancellor is not going to be there, how can I come?

Student    :    Please Swami, You should come.
Swami    :    (Swami called the Vice-Chancellor, Sri S. V. Giri and to the boys) See, he is going to meet the Prime Minister. You can all come here on Krishnashtami day and present your programme here so that all devotees can also see the programme.

Student    :    Swami, You should come to the Institute.

Swami    :    What is there in the Institute? Everything is here.

Student    :    We will do as You say, Swami.

Swami    :    Will you?

Student    :    Yes, Swami.

Swami    :    (Referring to presentation that students put up for this morning’s Moral Class, which depicted the life of the Telugu poet Pothana (1450-1510 AD), who translated ‘Srimad Bhagavatam’ into Telugu) Did you put up the incident of Srinatha which brings out his humility? (The M.B.A.-M.F.M. students again pleaded with Swami. But Swami asked them to remain seated and went to the birthday boys, blessed them and autographed the photos that they showed and went inside the interview room.
After sometime Swami came back to the third block. Coming towards Prof. Anil Kumar) What is that book? Is it Shankaracharya’s book?

Prof. A. K.    :    Swami, Your speeches.

Swami    :    (Smiling) Stunt! (Swami would often used this word to indicate artificial display of devotion.)

Prof. A. K.    :    No, Swami. Swami, Your own handwriting is also there. (He then gave the book to Swami.)

Swami    :    I never wrote this book.

Prof. A. K.    :    No, Swami, this letter was originally written by You and a photo is also printed.

Swami    :    (After seeing the book) Oh! This is Bhaja Govindam.

Students    :    Swami on 21st, You should come.

Swami    :    Bad luck, the Vice-Chancellor is going to Delhi. I am sending
Vice-Chancellor to Delhi for some work with the Prime Minister.

Prof. A. K.    :    Swami, people are talking a lot about the 75th Birthday Celebrations.

Swami    :    (Remained silent) During 75th Birthday, 9,000 youth are coming here.

Prof. A. K.    :    Swami, I think boys want to celebrate M.B.A. day in Your presence and listen to Your Discourse, so that it will become auspicious.

Swami    :    Wherever I speak, be it in auditorium or any other place, it will be auspicious!

Swami then went inside the interview room.
