In the evening, after the interviews, when Swami came to Ganesh portico at around 5.00 pm, there was a new footstool under Swami’s chair.
Swami : (To Warden, Dr. Siva Sankara Sai) Who put this?
Warden : Swami, boys who take care of Swami’s room (in Hostel).
Swami : Who are they? (The student was called to the front.) Dancer. He danced in Brindavan.
Warden : Swami, he did B.Sc., M.Sc., and now he is doing M.Tech.
Swami : Why so many? Vyartham (waste).
B. Warden : Swami, it is a chance to stay with Swami.
Swami : In Jagarajapalli, what happened? Some confusion…
B. Warden : Swami, when we went, the head was out of station.
Swami : You should have informed him before itself. Then he might not have gone. Since you went and selected, there was election. It is our mistake. We should have informed them before. At least from tomorrow inform and go.
B. Warden : Swami, this evening itself we informed the M.R.O. Swami, railway station is like a temple.
Swami : Even those people (Railway authorities) said that since Puttaparthi is a temple, the railway station should also be like a temple. There (in the railway station) are VIP rooms, shopping complex and a medical center. (Swami took a letter from a student read out the following lines) “I really can’t live without You.” Papam. (After reading the letter of another student) Higher Secondary School boys also want to come for service. But they are very small.
B. Warden : Swami, we are taking 11th and 12th standard students. Swami, today Pulihora (tamarind rice) was very good.
Swami : It is not that the food is good. It was good because you were all very hungry!
Prof. A. K. : Swami, spice was little less. It was Satvic.
Swami : All the Panchendriyas (five sense organs) should receive Satvic food. Ears, eyes, and nose. Tongue has taste buds, but not the ear.
(Editor’s Note: Food is always related to what we eat. Hence, great importance is laid on what we consume. However, Swami would always emphasise on the food of all the five sense organs. He would always state that the food intake of the eyes, ears, nose and the body as a whole should be pure; not just the food consumed through the mouth.)
It is suprising. Anantapur people sent Rs. 36 lakhs to Me. But I gave it back. (Swami said that He increased the salaries for the alumni who work in the Ashram. To a student) Punjab boy, do you want to go to Punjab?
Student : I will not go away from Swami.
Swami : After marriage?
Prof. A. K. : (Jokingly) Swami, she will pull the ear and take.
Swami : It is Punjab. She will catch the nose and pull. Go to Punjab after Birthday. (To another student) Which place did you go?
Student : Kappalabanda.
Swami : In Rayalaseema, ‘Kappa’ does not mean frog. It means fox. Today, nice weather. No rain or hot sun.
When the Bhajans started Swami went back to the interview room.
OM SAI RAM:)
