"Study Well. Don’t Waste Time..."

  January 28, 1997

Swami called a 12th class student and asked him to take the letters that He had collected from devotees. He asked the student to wait in the middle portico. After interview, Swami came to him and took the letters.

Swami: Where are your books?

Student: Here, Swami. (He showed his Physics textbook)

Swami: Good. Study hard. Don’t waste time.
(After the interview, Swami came to the Ganesh portico and stood in front of the 3rd block.)

Swami: Study well. Don’t waste time. Otherwise, I will not permit you to come for morning Darshan. It’s the XII standard!

Students: Yes, Swami.

Swami: When are exams?

Students: In March, Swami.

Swami: Central Government Exams for X and XII . I want 100% results in X and XII standards.
One student wanted his Institute application form to be blessed by Swami.

Swami: Why for Me? Give it there. (Administrative block.)
(One student was giving a beautifully decorated letter to Swami.)
What is this show?
(The student moved forward and showed the open letter to Swami.)

Swami: Art is outside, heart is inside. If heart is pure, then automatically you will come physically close to Me.

Swami looked straight into the eyes of a student and said…

Swami: Go to mental hospital…go to mental hospital. Take him also (Pointing to another student). (To Sri V.K. Narasimhan) Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago came. Including him, 125 people came to see Swami.
Later, after the interview,

Swami: For what are you giving letters daily? I am seeing for the past three days.

Then Swami moved on to the 4th block. There He stood on the path and saw two students holding handkerchiefs, sitting side by side.

Swami: Competition, Ah?
(Then, Swami moved on and taking a student’s letter that was shaded black on all corners, He remarked…)

Swami: Do not give such letters. Only when somebody dies, one gives such letters.
(The student was unable to understand and rose up.)

Swami: Don’t put this black colour. Understood?

Student: Yes, Swami.

So saying, Swami walked towards the Bhajan hall. On the way, He took a rose from a student and gave it to Sri. V. K. Narasimhan and…

Swami: Give it to your wife.

V.K. N.: Padanamaskar, Swami.

Swami: Oh! I have to give you Padanamaskar so that you will hand over the rose to your wife? (Smiling)
