"What games do you have today? Are you a captain?"

December 7, 1999

After interviews Swami came to first block.  He looked for a while at the boys.

Swami: Are there any games today?

Student: Yes, Swami.  (Swami went to Bhajan hall and then inside interview room. Later He came towards the Students, smiling…) What games do you have today?

Students: 200 meters race and Ball Badminton, Swami.

Swami: Oh!  Running.  (Pointing towards a student)  What does this Pakoda do?

Students: Cultural coordinator, Swami.

Swami: What is the meaning of coordinator?

Student:  Swami, he is a link between various items.

Swami: No, it has a different meaning. Coordination and cooperation have different meanings. Link and coordination are not the same. (To a Student) Are you a captain?

Student: Yes, Swami.

Swami: (To another Student) You also?

Student: Yes, Swami.

Swami: (To another) You are also captain?

Student: Yes, Swami.

Swami: Which course?

Student: MFM, Swami.

Swami: What?  UG or PG?

Student: PG course, Swami.

Swami: (To another Student) You?

Student: PG second year, Swami.

Swami: (To yet another Student) You?

Student: PG second year, Swami.

Swami: (To a fourth student) You are also in the final year. All are second years.  Till next March, isn’t it?  After that, you all ‘march’!  (To another student)  What about you?

Student: PG Diploma, Swami.

Swami: When is your exam?

Student: March, Swami.

Swami: After that?

Student: Whatever Swami says.

Swami: Hyderabad, Hyderabad.  (Swami was silent for sometime and was looking at the students. Many school students were holding letters. Swami called a student and took his letter.  To that student) 10 years back, I saw you in Ooty. Isn’t it?  (Swami smiled)

Student: Yes, Swami.

Swami: Not ten years, eleven years.  (Swami smiled again.)

Student: Yes, Swami.

Swami: You have an elder brother.  Isn’t it?  (Swami smiled again)

Student: Yes, Swami.

Swami: What is he doing now?

Student: 3rd year B.Com, Swami.

Swami: Your brother had some growth on his chest. Isn’t it? Don’t do operation, it is not good. First, it was small, and then it grew in size. I know everything. Even though eleven years have passed, I still remember everything. You think that Swami has forgotten everything. But Swami doesn’t! It is only your imagination.

Swami accepted letters from many more students and gave Padanamaskar to many of them.  He then called an Institute student…

Swami: Aye, dancer. Dancer, aren’t you? You have grown like a palm tree!
Swami talked to him and sent him back. He then accepted letters from many Institute students also and went back to interview room.
