At 3.20 pm Swami graciously came to give His Darshan. The students and teachers rendered Vedam recitation. Swami entered from veranda, He walked through the Ganesha portico from near His chair and went around into the interview room.
After sometime, He came into Ganesha portico and sat in His chair. Thereafter, Swami blessed Sri A. V. S. Raju to read his poems.
(Editor’s Note: Promoter and Founder of the Nagarjuna Construction Company, Sri Raju, an ardent devotee of Bhagavan has written over 11,000 Telugu poems on Swami. In the later years, Sri Raju set a new Guinness world record by writing the largest single volume biography Sri Sai Sudha Madhuri on the life of Swami between 1996 and 2007. The single bound book consists of 32 separate volumes.)
After the poetry recitation, Swami called a student working in the Central Trust.
Swami : Did you understand the Padyams (poems)?
Student : Swami, here and there, I understood little.
Swami : Which of these is more important, Sahityam (literature) or Sangeetam (music)? (The student was silent.) Both of these - Sahityam (literature) and Sangeetam (music) are equally important.
(He called a Primary School teacher) Did you understand these?
Teacher : Swami, everything is You.
Swami : What he (devotee) had done with lot of effort and read at length, you are telling in one sentence. He wrote it thinking continuously about them while walking and sitting. While eating with one hand, he wrote poems with the other hand. (He called a student working in the University Administrative Block and asked) What is the relationship between these two – Sahityam (literature) and Sangeetam (music)? (Since the staff member was quiet, Swami Himself gave the answer.) Sahityam (literature) and Sangeetam (music) cannot exist without one another.
Teacher : If one is not there?
Swami : It cannot happen like that. Each is present as the other’s undercurrent. (Swami called the Warden – Dr. Siva Sankara Sai and said) Emi Sahityam? (What is literature?) Emi Sangeetam? (What is music?) Which is greater?
Warden : In the Padyam (poem), Sahityam is like father and Sangeetam is like mother. For everyone to enjoy Sangeetam (music), good works (literature) are also equally important.
Swami : What is the meaning of ‘Sahasra Sheersha Purusha’?
Students : The One with thousand heads and thousand hands.
Swami : It is to be interpreted as: ‘Sahasra’ here means unlimited, heads and hands everywhere. Everyone is essentially the form of God. (Swami called a student from the Vedam group. The conversation was in Tamil.) Where are you from?
Student : Mettur, Swami.
Swami : Mettur Dam?
Student : No, Swami. Mettur.
Swami : Mettupalayam?
Student : Yes, Swami.
Swami : Have you seen the dam? With water?
Student : Yes, Swami.
Swami : How was it?
Student : It was full of water, Swami.
Swami : When? How is it now?
Student : Five years back, Swami. Now it is all dry.
Swami : Yes, yes. I have laid pipes. I am ready to give water, but because of some reasons it is being delayed.
Student : Yes, Swami.
Swami : Whatever be the obstacles, we have to give water to the dry villages.
(To the student) When did you learn Vedam? Who taught you?
Student : In Brindavan. Vedam teachers and a senior student taught me there.
Swami : Oh! (repeating the teacher’s name) Manchidi (Good). Chaala Santosham (Very happy).
