March 11, 2002 (Monday)
Swami came to Ganesh portico at around 4.30 pm.
Swami : (To a teacher) Good news for you. The water project committee has started working. The water project has been settled. Government employed very able engineers for this project. They are doing it very carefully. They will start in May and complete the project by November. They expected it to cost around 1100 crores. But it came to 700 crores. This is only the project cost. Other expenses may also be there. They are sending the water through an open canal. It is an irrigation canal. It flows through the districts of Nellore and Kurnool. The people in those areas are very happy. The reservoir is going to be there in Kandaleru and the purification tank is going to be in Poondi. Krishna (river) water is going to be pumped.
Teacher : Swami, Godavari…
Swami : If we want Godavari water, we have to get it from Rajahmundry, which is very difficult. We have to get permission from the Government. The tax comes to 11 crores. But we are exempted. We are using those pipes which are very strong and fully covered. If anyone wants to lift it, one cannot. No one can make holes also. Some have the habit of taking out pipes. But these they cannot. The canal is filled with some type of mud which sucks the water. We are going to cement it. This canal is to be used for 120 miles. (Swami looked at the chair and said) They have put a fan next to the chair. (To Prof. Anil Kumar) Did you have food?
Prof. A. K. : I drank water also, Swami. They provided ice water.
Swami : You got used to comforts. Did all boys see the new place?
Prof. A. K. : We all saw, Swami. We saw the surroundings and the place. They kept three level cross-checks.
Swami : (To Warden) Is there no dance today? (Since the students had put up a cultural programme a couple of days ago.) (To Prof. Anil Kumar) Do you sing?
Prof. A. K. : Swami, sometimes I sing Bhajans slowly.
Swami : Do you sing nicely?
Prof. A. K. : Swami, I do not lead.
